Episode 28 – To Dye For

20 Mar

Heather shows off her newest creations, talks about spindle kits, silk, gridwalls and customer comments. It’s kind of long … get comfortable!
Dyepots: Lots! Corriedale, BFL, and silk.  Look for new learn-to-spin kits!
Processes: “Snapping” silk to make it pretty and less intestine-like.
Growth: Considering changing displays to gridwalls.  Not totally sure, but thinking this is the way to go.
Shout-outs are causing tremendous growth in my business, which I appreciate!  I’d especially like to thank Mommyneedsyarn, DramaticKnits, 90% Knitting, and Knittin’ on the Fly for their support.  Love you all!

This is the first episode of your’s that I have watched and I will definitely be a regular now! I am excited to order my kit (and hopefully the Vintage Corriedale) later today! I am really ready to start spinning now! 🙂

OH… and you can credit Erin of MommyNeedsYarn and Steve from DramaticKnits for me coming to your podcast and Erin for telling me about the “kit” on a VKN. 🙂

First off, I think you hair looks beautiful! You have been so busy lately and I love it. You have some of the most unique and amazing colorways. You have quite the eye for color and I look forward to my purchase in the near future.

Oh BTW, I just convo’d you Etsy.

Aww! Thanks. You’re right about being busy … but it’s strange. Being so busy doing what I love actually GIVES me energy, instead of taking it away. I can only imagine what life will be like if I ever get to do this full time.

Thank you for the comments about my stuff. I appreciate it!

    Oh, BTW, I convo’d you back. 😉

This is the first I have seen of your podcast. Really enjoyed it, especially since I have been interested in taking up spinning and have no knowledge of it.
A kit would be perfect for me to start. Alot of good information there!

I just got into the video podcast trend being home with sick baby all week and you all have made my week so much more entertaining.
I really like your podcast. It is fast, fun and you make pretty things.
Some thoughts on stuff you talked about… for fiber packaging, have you checked out http://www.clearbags.com? they have loads of different plastic bags, boxes and stuff.
And for a different theme appropiate peg wall… How about slicing some 2-2,5 meters long logs lengthwise in two, drill holes in them and stuff pegs in the holes. If you don’t glue the pegs in you can allways just take them out for transport and even maybe send the whole thing in ski bags on an aeroplane… Or just use rather stiff branches and hang fiber from that.
Don’t know if anyone has done that before, but it would be awesome I think.
